Ifwinch sounded like it was beginning to operatebut stopped, replace winch. If load creeps downafter grip controls released, replace winch.24.25.26.Cable failure during loadingoperations will result in cablewhiplash within the cabin. Thismay result in personnel injury.Stand aft and to one side of loadto avoid whiplash exposure.On winch control grip (14), press and holdWINCH ARMING TRIGGER switch (17)and set WINCH CABLE control (18) toIN.On winch control grip (14), press and holdWINCH ARMING TRIGGER switch (17)and set WINCH CABLE control (18) toOUT. Release controls (17 and 18) aftertension is off cable (12). Disconnect loadfrom cable hook.Connect winch control grip (14) toHOIST OPERATOR’S panel receptacle(20) with cable (16).NOTEIf necessary, reel in several feet of ca-ble to perform following step.On winch control grip (14), press and holdWINCH ARMING TRIGGER switch (17)and set WINCH CABLE control (18) toOUT. Release controls (17 and 18) whenseveral feet of cable (12) are reeled out.Have helper keep slight tension on cable.Helper must wear gloves.Winch (4) shall reel in cable (12) and stop whensecond layer of cable starts on cable drum. Ifwinch does not reel in cable, go to task 14-1.11. Ifwinch continues to operate, release controls (17and 18). Adjust overload limit switch. If switch isadjusted, repeat steps 18 thru 23. If winch stilldoes not stop when second layer of cable wrapsbegins, replace winch.Cable (12) shall reel off winch (4), If winch doesnot operate, locate open in wire W668-33-20,W697-16-20, or W645-238-20 between recep-tacle 132J12 and TB17.
