Settings are TONEand0 through 5. TONE pro-vides no muting and nosquelch. Position 0 providesmuting but no squelch. Posi-tions 1 through 5 providemuting and increasing levelsof squelch. Muting is normal-ly enabled during ALE andALE ECCM operation.Output Power LevelThree output levels are se-lectable for the displayscreen by using the EDITline-select switch, whichbrings up the edit mode,moving the cursor under thepower character field and us-ing the VALUE switches tochange the field. Depress theRTN line-select switch whichstores the change and re-turns to normal operatingmode. There are two Built-in-Test (BIT) features whichconcerns the operator, P-BITand C-BIT. The Power-UP Bit(P-BIT) test the ARC-220when initially turned on. P-Bitexercise basic radio controlfunctions which must be op-erational prior to entering asystem operational mode.
