Proce-dure to send/receive (recall)messages is the same for allmodes, except in manualmode when ALE link is notestablished.Data Messages - Re-ceivedReceived messages arestored in MSG location 1.MSG 10 is the oldest mes-sage and is deleted frommemory upon receipt of anincoming message. Receivedmessages can be read and/or forwarded, but not edited.A CHECK MSG advisor isdisplayed when data mes-sage received. To recall datamessages perform the follow-ing:1. Press MSG line-selectswitch to view message. Ifoperator desires to checkmessages even though aCHECK MSG advisory wasnor displayed, press MSGline–select switch, thenRCVD line-select switch toview messages. NO MES-SAGES advisory appears ifno messages exists.2. Use the CURSOR up/down arrow to view messageone line at a time and left/right arrows to move cursorto left margin. Use VALUEswitches to page up or down.3. To view additionalmessages, use CURSORswitches to position cursorunder the MSG number theuse. VALUE switches toscroll to next consecutivemessage number.4. To retain messages inmemory, press RTN line-se-lect switch. Press RTN line-select switch to return to op-erationalCONTROLS/INDICATORFUNCTION5. To delete messages,position cursor under mes-sage number to delete, pressthe DEL line-select switchuntil NO MESSAGES is dis-played mode.Data Messages -TransmitPress SEND line-selectswitch to transmit last se-lected address in ALE orECCM mode, or to transmitmessage using current modeand frequency in manualmode. In ALE or ECCMmodes advisories are dis-played during tuning, synch-ing and linking which is doneautomatically. SENDINGDATA is displayed whilemessage is transmitted.Program/Edit DataMessagesPress MSG line–select switchto go to MESSAGE screen,then press PGRM line-selectswitch. NO MESSAGES isdisplayed if none exists. Usethe CURSOR up/down ar-rows to position the cursor,then use VALUE switches toenter desired data (if a pre-viously programmed mes-sage is to be edited, useCURSOR an VALUEswitches to obtain appropri-ate message and line as de-scribed earlier). To delete acharacter in cursor positionand to shift remaining char-acters one position to the left,press DEL line-select switch.A built-in word dictionary isavailable (either default orfilled). To access word dictio-nary, press WORD line-selectswitch to obtain INSERTscreen. Use CURSOR andVALUE switches to scroll dic-tionary. Place cursor underdesired word and pressSELCT line-select switch toinsert a blank and the se-lected word at cursor positionof message edit screen or ifno word found, press CANCL
